Yolo Striders Track and Field Club (YSTFC) 2015 Summer Championship Vault Series Results

First of all I want to thank everyone who helped, jumped or supported the effort. I think by all accounts we had a successful series. I’m already looking forward to next summer, especially since it’ll be an Olympic year. Stay tuned for more information. Now on to the results.
Thirty four vaulters battled it out in the championship meet where we saw four new PRs and three tied PRs. On the PR side, please join me in congratulating Joe O’Hair (7’6”), Gary Wuest (8’0”) and Chloe Wall (10’0”) for all tying their PRs and to Rachel Randall (2” PR to 9’6”),Quan Phun (2” PR to 13’0”),Augie Donovan (5” PR to 13’0”) and finally Isaiah Holmes (2’2” PR to 13’0”) for beating their PRs.This week’s PR medal again goes to Isaiah Holmes, the 7’0” high jumper turned pole vaulter in less than 7 weeks going 13’0”, with an eye on the decathlon. Great job Isaiah.
As they say, there can be only one…overall winner that is. Despite that, read on for our division winners, and remember, these are cumulative heights over the entire series with the final meet’s height counting as 3 times the final height. Please join me in congratulating…
·      High School Girls Champion:Megan Fereira, with a total cumulative height of 68’1¾“. Megan may have finished higher but ended on a tremendously aggressive plant on her final attempt at 12’0” that resulted in a broken pole. Nice job Megan, on winning that is not the broken pole.
·      High School Boys Champion:Max Bjorni, with a total cumulative height of 74’5¼“. Max is a lesson in consistency. He may not have been the highest vaulter in the series but he showed up and gave ithis all. You know what they say, slow and steady wins the race. Nice job Max!
·      Women’s Open Champion: Courtney Meyer, with a total cumulative height of 21’10½”. Courtney only jumped at both our Davis meets and had great technical control. Good job Courtney. You can pick up your trophy from Coach Rick H.
·      Men’s Open Champion: Adam Andresen, with a total cumulative height of 60’10”. Adam was a late comer to the series but jumped a couple of awesome heights. Just look what he did in only two meets. Great Job Adam.
·      2015 YSTFCOverall Champion:Max Bjorni of Bella Vista High School highest cumulative height,74’5 ¼”,Congratulations Max.
