Men’s Cross Country Places Third At NCAA Regionals
Courtesy Cornell BOSTON, Mass. — Men's cross country posted a strong third-place team finish, beating out two nationally ranked teams, at the NCAA Northeast Regionals at Franklin Park in Boston on Friday afternoon.
Senior Ben Rainero was once again the Big Red's top finisher, placing an impressive fifth overall at 30:35. Senior Brian Eimstad and sophomore Dominic DeLuca also finished in the race's top 20, with Eimstad placing 14th at 30:58 and DeLuca coming in 18th at 31:06. Junior James Gowans (33rd, 31:31) and sophomore Josh Dyrland (44th, 31:38) rounded out Cornell's top five. Junior Zach Israel placed 57th at 31:56 and senior Connor Herr was 69th at 32:08.
No. 2 Syracuse and No. 9 Iona finished in the top two spots, respectively, and will automatically qualify for the NCAA National Championship next weekend in Louisville, Ky., while the Big Red will await its fate. No. 16 Columbia finished fifth with No. 29 Providence right behind in sixth.
