UCLA once again opens the indoor season at the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
UCLA Track & Field Opens 2016 Season

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA track and field team will head to Flagstaff, Ariz., to open the 2016 indoor season at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. The one-day meet will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, in the Skydome on the Northern Arizona campus.
UCLA will be going up against host NAU, Arizona State, UTEP, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, and San Diego State. The field events are set to begin on Saturday at 8 a.m. PT with the women's pole vault, women's long jump and men's shot put. The track events are set to start at 9:35 a.m. PT with the women's mile.
The Bruins return two indoor All-Americans from a year ago that will compete Saturday. Nicholas Scarvelis and Torie Owers both earned second team honors as Scarvelis finished 10th and Owers placed 14th.
On top of the returning indoor All-Americans that will compete this weekend, the Bruins also welcome back outdoor All-American, Steele Wasik. As a true freshman he earned second-team All-American accolades in the decathlon.
Also returning are three outdoor honorable mention All-Americans. Nick Hartle in the men’s 800m, and both Jessie Maduka and Ashley Lewis in the women’s 4x100m.
UCLA will return to the indoor oval when it heads to Manhattan, Kan., for the DeLoss Dodds Invitational. The meet will be held on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23.
