Kibet took first in the 800-meter race today at 1:47.23. Yesterday he broke the Husky Track record in the prelims with a time of 1:48.46, a mark that he topped today.
“I thought we competed exceptionally well.” Head Coach Fred Harvey said. “Collins winning the championship was definitely big, and when you stop and think about Nnenya’s performance on a national level you see those marks are at the top level.”
Nnenya Hailey took second place in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.10 seconds, missing the title by one-hundredth of a second.
The Wildcats had three Pac-12 champions overall. Junior Lisanne Hagens won the Pac-12 high jump title on Saturday with a jump at 5 ft. - 8.75 in. (1.75m).
“Anytime you can come out of here with a Pac-12 title in any event, you’re doing something special.”  Coach Harvey said. “I was extremely happy for her, she worked so hard to get where she is.”
Senior Pau Tonnesen had taken the conference’s decathlon championship when the multi events were held last weekend.
Arizona will be hosting the Tucson Thrower’s Elite Classic next weekend on Thursday, May 19th and Saturday, May 21st.
