SEATTLE --- While the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships were held in Seattle, the California Golden Bears were still able to put a bit of Berkeley flair to it.
Sophomore Isabella Marten secured the first Pac-12 individual title for the Bears in two years by leading the field in the triple jump. The transfer from SMU earned her first Pac-12 championship with a PR leap of 43-8 and won the first Pac-12 crown for Cal since Hammed Suleman won the men's long jump in 2014. The championship adds to her season haul after winning the MPSF triple jump title during indoor season.
Marten's title was one of five top-3 finishes for the Bears on Sunday and seven overall over the last two days.
Overall, Cal completed this year's conference event in ninth (men's) and tenth (women's) place, respectively after ending the 2015 Championships in eighth and 12th. The Bears logged 15 new personal bests in the process.
On the men's side; Cal scored 50.60 total points, adding 31.60 points during Sunday's session. The Golden Bear women tallied 39.5 points after a 36.50 point final day. Cal was able to score points in all but one event on the day.
